Four teachers from the 1st General Secondary School (I Liceum Ogólnokształcące) in Kielce – Anna Iwaniuk, Monika Ślusarczyk, Ewelina Chyla and Anna Wojnowska – took part in an educational mobility to Italy, carried out in the form of job shadowing at the “Liceo Scientifico” in Soverato. The mobility was funded by the European Union, and the project coordinator is Gabriela Olea Martin.
During their stay, the participants had the opportunity to observe classes in English literature, biology, chemistry, and practical English as a foreign language. An important part of the mobility was also participation in AI-focused workshops in education במסגרת the DigiYouth project entitled: “The impact of AI in teachers and students in Italian and Greek schools”.
The job shadowing experience provided a valuable opportunity for the exchange of good practices. The teachers expanded their knowledge of strategies for addressing educational challenges and methods of working with students with diverse learning needs. The mobility also enabled a comparison of the education systems in Poland and Italy, offering deeper insight into differences in teaching organization, school management, team communication, and teacher–student relationships.
The experience contributed to increased cultural awareness and strengthened the participants’ professional confidence. It also served as an inspiration for implementing innovative teaching approaches in their home institution. Intensive use of a foreign language helped overcome language barriers and improved communication skills.
Particularly inspiring were the observations of biology lessons conducted using the CLIL method, where modern technologies such as multimedia presentations and interactive whiteboards were applied. These experiences provide valuable guidance for the development of bilingual education in our school.
As part of the exchange of good practices, the teachers also shared their experiences related to the functioning of the school library and the role of the teacher-librarian in the cultural life of the school, which was met with great interest by the Italian partners.
Participation in the mobility was a highly valuable experience that will contribute to the further professional development of the teachers and enhance the quality of the school’s work.
